Short version. Git-Zen is a sync layer. We hold the minimum data needed to keep your Zendesk tickets connected to your engineering tools, host it on US-only infrastructure operated by Third South Capital, and encrypt it in transit and at rest. We do not sell, share, or analyze your ticket content. For the formal data-processing terms, see our Data Processing Agreement.

1. Who we are

Git-Zen is a product of Third South Capital, a US company. When you install Git-Zen from the Zendesk Marketplace and connect it to your engineering tool (GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Linear, or Jira), Third South Capital is the data controller and processor for the limited data described below. You can reach us at support@git-zen.com.

2. What we store

We keep what we need to make the sync work, and not much else:

  • Account and billing. Your Zendesk subdomain, the email of the admin who installed Git-Zen, and billing identifiers from our payment processor.
  • Connection credentials. OAuth tokens or Personal Access Tokens you authorize for your engineering tool, encrypted at rest. We never see your raw passwords.
  • Sync configuration. Your settings: which projects, default labels, custom field mappings, regex filters, tag and label pairings.
  • Sync links. The mapping between Zendesk ticket IDs and the linked GitHub issue or other engineering item, so future updates land on the right ticket.
  • Operational logs. Short-lived logs of sync events (success or failure) for support and reliability. Logs are retained for 30 days and then purged.

3. What we do not store

  • Ticket bodies and customer PII. We pass ticket content through to your engineering tool during a sync event. We do not retain the body of the ticket, the customer's identifying information, or the engineering-side response after the sync completes.
  • Your customers' personal data. Anything a Zendesk requester wrote stays inside your Zendesk and inside your engineering tool. Git-Zen is not a third copy.
  • Behavioral profiles. We do not build user profiles, do not sell data to advertisers, and do not let third parties train on your data.

4. Where your data lives

All Git-Zen data, including the database, application servers, backups, and logs, is hosted on US-based infrastructure operated by Third South Capital. Data does not leave the United States in the course of normal operation.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or another region with cross-border transfer rules, please review the Data Processing Agreement, which includes the legal basis and safeguards we rely on.

5. Encryption

  • In transit. All connections to Git-Zen, between Git-Zen and Zendesk, and between Git-Zen and your engineering tool use TLS 1.2 or higher.
  • At rest. Connection credentials and customer-identifying configuration are encrypted at rest in our database. Backups are encrypted.
  • Secrets. OAuth refresh tokens and Personal Access Tokens are stored encrypted with keys held outside the application database.

6. Who can access your data

Access is restricted to the Git-Zen engineering team members who need it to operate the service or respond to support. Every access is auditable. We do not grant production database access to sales, marketing, or any third party.

7. Sub-processors

Git-Zen uses a small number of trusted sub-processors to run the service: a US cloud hosting provider for compute and storage, a payment processor for billing, an email sender for transactional support replies, and a privacy-respecting analytics tool for aggregate page metrics. The current list is available on request to support@git-zen.com.

8. Retention and deletion

  • Sync configuration and link mappings are retained while your Git-Zen subscription is active.
  • Operational logs are retained for 30 days.
  • When you uninstall Git-Zen or close your account, we delete your configuration, connection credentials, and link mappings within 30 days. Billing records may be retained longer where US tax or accounting law requires it.
  • To request earlier deletion, email support@git-zen.com.

9. Cookies and analytics

The git-zen.com marketing site uses Plausible (a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics tool) and Google Analytics for aggregate visitor metrics. We use a single session cookie for the cookie-consent banner and do not run advertising trackers. The Git-Zen app itself, inside Zendesk, does not set tracking cookies on your customers.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you are, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@git-zen.com. We will respond within 30 days. The Data Processing Agreement covers the formal procedures for data subject requests under GDPR and similar regimes.

11. Security incidents

If a security incident affects your data, we will notify your account admin without undue delay, typically within 72 hours of becoming aware of the issue, with the information we have at the time.

12. Children

Git-Zen is a B2B product and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

13. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify the account admin by email. Continued use of Git-Zen after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
